If you're considering reaching out, here are the questions that come up most often. If yours isn't here, please ask. There are no wrong questions to bring to a first conversation.
A short, no-pressure conversation. You can tell me a little about what's bringing you in, ask whatever you want about how I work, and we both get a sense of whether we'd be a good fit. There's no obligation to book a session afterwards.
Honestly, it varies. Some people come in for focused work on a specific concern and wrap in 6 to 10 sessions. Others find longer-term work more useful. We'll review together as we go, and there's no obligation to keep coming if it isn't helping.
A$250 per 50-minute session. If your GP has given you a Mental Health Care Plan, you may be eligible for a Medicare rebate on up to 10 sessions per calendar year. The rebate doesn't cover the full fee, but does reduce the out-of-pocket significantly. NDIS clients are also welcome (plan-managed and self-managed).
You'll need a Mental Health Care Plan from your GP first. They'll do a short assessment and write a referral. Bring the plan to our first session. The rebate will be processed after the session, and most clients receive it back into their account within 1 to 2 business days.
Yes. I work with plan-managed and self-managed NDIS participants. If your plan is agency-managed, I'm not currently able to bill directly, but you're welcome to talk it through with me on the intro call. I'll help you understand your options either way.
What you share with me stays between us, with three exceptions that are required by Australian law and professional standards. First, if there's a serious and imminent risk to your safety or someone else's. Second, if a young person under 16 discloses information about their safety. Third, if records are subpoenaed by a court. We'll talk through this properly in our first session.
We meet via secure video. You'll need a private space, a reliable internet connection, and a device with a camera (laptop, tablet or phone all work). I'll send you a link before each session. Most people find that after a few minutes the format fades into the background and the work feels much like in-person sessions.
You're not the only one. Many clients work from their car, a quiet park, a walking session with headphones, or a borrowed office. We'll find a setup that works for you. If privacy at home is part of what we're navigating, that becomes part of the conversation.
Sometimes, yes, depending on the work. I primarily offer individual therapy, but there are points in the work where bringing a partner, parent or family member in is genuinely useful, and we can plan for that.
24 hours' notice is required if you need to cancel or reschedule an appointment, or a late cancellation fee will be charged.
Yes, we accept private health rebates. You'll receive an invoice which you can take to your private health fund, and if eligible you may receive a rebate.
I'm not set up for crisis response or same-day support, and I want to be honest about that. If you are in crisis or thinking of harming yourself or someone else, please reach out to one of the services below. They're staffed by people trained for exactly this, and available 24/7.
